Simeon spoke passionately at the Gathering about "African Solutions to African problems", explaining that in his opinion "Africans think differently than others". He focussed on mobile cloud computing: "the power and the beauty of this concept is the number of users it can reach, especially in Africa, whereby most of us cannot afford a laptops but can afford a mobile phone".

She metioned that as of 2009 only 7 African States were members of the International Cable Protection Committee (ICPC) and that she hoped that would change.
