There can be not better indicator of how a new technology is taking hold than how the old technology has been discarded - and when I was in Lamu in December 2009 I noticed these old phone boxes rusting away in the grounds of the Lamu post office.







Africa is the land of the mobile phone - and as if to prove it, even the ambulances in Lamu are sponsored by the mobile phone operators:
